Worcestershire County Council is committed to making its websites and applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the Careers Worcestershire website.

This website is run by a third-party provider on behalf of Worcestershire County Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• zoom in without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard (including skip to content or skip to main navigation)
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader

Non accessible content

We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:

• some interactive elements do not have a focus state so are not fully accessible to keyboard users
• some search filters and forms are not fully accessible to keyboard or screen reader users
• some forms are not labelled correctly for screen reader users
• colour contrast makes it hard to read the text in some parts of the website
• some pages do not have descriptive hyperlinks
• some pages do not contain a clear heading structure
• Some pages are not coded with landmarks which may impact screen reader users

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance issues identified below:

• The site has no keyboard accessibility e.g. no focus states on interactive elements or menu for those who may need to navigate the site using only the keyboard (2.1.1 Keyboard, 2.4.7 Focus visible) 
• Keyboard navigation when you do follow it via being able to see the url at the bottom of the page takes users through tabbing the entire menu and sub menus rather than only tabbing main buttons and choosing to open or close sub menus (2.4.1 Bypass blocks)
• Some interactive elements have poor contrast keyboard focus (1.4.11 non-text contrast (focus indicators)
• At 200% zoom the carousel at the bottom that displays the council logos has no means of stopping the animation (2.2.2 Pause, stop, hide)
• The carousel that has get in touch, bootcamps, Worcestershire jobs is not accessible or usable with a keyboard (2.1.1 Keyboard (accessible by a keyboard) 
• How can we help doesn’t announce clearly that an option has been selected and some form elements are not clearly labelled (3.3.2 Labels or instructions) 
• What’s on calendar not accessible for keyboard or screen reader navigation (2.1.1 Keyboard (accessible by a keyboard))
• When using a screen reader, the calendar gives out event names but not the times of events (3.3.2 Labels or instructions) 
• All sponsor logos at the bottom have no alt text they just announce as ‘blank’ (1.1.1 non-text content) 
• Booking forms for hubs all have an option for details, but with a screen reader you cannot hear the time of the sessions (3.3.2 Labels or instructions)
• The homepage, booking form and has colour contrast issues between the text and background (1.4.3 Contrast minimum)
• Links are not always descriptive and use vague terms (2.4.4 Link purpose (In context)) 
• Some headings are not applied correctly, and, on some pages, there is no H1 (2.4.6 Headings and labels)
• The page has no landmarks coded to help those using assistive technologies (2.4.1 Bypass blocks)

This website was last tested during 7 January 2025. The testing was carried out using the following methods:

• Axe Developer Tools to check the underlying code
• Keyboard only access testing a selection of user journeys

• Zoom up to 400% to test that the site is responsive
